Move by move

  1. 1.e4 – White opens with the classical 1.e4, staking a claim in the center and freeing diagonals for both the f1 bishop and the queen.
  2. 1...g6 – The Modern Defense! With 1...g6 you delay defining the center and developing the Knight, preparing the Bishop fianchetto on g7.
  3. 2.d4 – White seizes the opportunity to occupy the entire center with pawns on e4 and d4, establishing a broad territorial dominance.
  4. 2...Bg7 – You place the Bishop on g7, aiming directly at the undefended d4 pawn along the entire long dark-squared diagonal with great pressure.
  5. 3.Nc3 – White develops the Knight to c3, defending the vulnerable e4 pawn and reinforcing control over key central squares like d5 and e4.
  6. 3...d6 – A flexible continuation with 3...d6: you keep all options open, control the e5 square, and prepare an energetic queenside expansion.
  7. 4.Nf3 – White develops the Knight to f3, controlling central squares and choosing an orthodox setup without taking undue structural risks.
  8. 4...a6 – An essential preparatory move with 4...a6: taking the b5 square from white pieces and preparing an immediate b5 pawn thrust on the board.
  9. 5.Be3 – White develops the Bishop to e3 with the aim of protecting d4 and organizing a sturdy piece configuration in the center.
  10. 5...b5 – An immediate, energetic expansion with 5...b5! You roll your queenside pawns forward before White can even consider castling long.
  11. 6.Bd3 – White develops the Bishop to d3 on its natural diagonal, guarding the e4 pawn and pointing toward your castled king territory.
  12. 6...Bb7 – You complete the double fianchetto with 6...Bb7, placing White's central e4 pawn under a devastating crossfire along both diagonals.
  13. 7.O-O – White castles kingside to tuck the King away, but your double-fianchettoed bishops exert colossal pressure across the whole board.
  14. 7...Nd7 – You develop the Knight to d7: supporting the center, connecting your forces, and preparing the thematic c5 break with complete freedom.
  15. 8.a4 – White pushes 8.a4 to chip away at your b5 pawn, but provides an ideal springboard for Black to seize even more queenside territory.
  16. 8...b4 – You advance resolutely with 8...b4! You evict White's c3 Knight from its central post and secure total queenside dominance.
  17. 9.Ne2 – The white Knight retreats passively to e2, relinquishing its grip over key central squares to Black's surging initiative.
  18. 9...Ngf6 – You develop the Knight to f6, taking aim at the tender e4 pawn: White's center begins to crumble under your coordinated firepower.
