Move by move

  1. 1.e4 – White opens with the classical central pawn push, occupying e4 and freeing paths for the light-squared bishop and queen.
  2. 1...d5 – The Scandinavian Defense! With 1...d5 you instantly challenge White's e4 pawn, seizing the initiative and dictating terms.
  3. 2.exd5 – White captures in the center opening the e-file, accepting the challenge on d5 and inviting your queen out into the open board.
  4. 2...Nf6 – The modern 2...Nf6 variation: you avoid exposing your queen early, develop a minor piece toward the center, and prepare to recapture d5.
  5. 3.c4 – White clings to the gambit pawn with 3.c4, establishing an extended pawn front but leaving central dark squares and the d-file vulnerable.
  6. 3...e6 – The Icelandic Gambit! With 3...e6 you offer a second pawn to rip open central lines and stage a ferocious ambush against White's king.
  7. 4.dxe6 – White accepts the gambit by capturing on e6, clearing diagonals toward their own king while falling critically behind in development.
  8. 4...Bxe6 – You recapture with the bishop on e6 with tempo on c4: dominating central diagonals and preparing an explosive attack against White's setup.
  9. 5.d4 – In the Icelandic Gambit White prematurely pushes d4, hoping to cement the center but walking right into Black's lethal tactical ambush.
  10. 5...Bb4+ – The devastating intermediate check 5...Bb4+! You force White into a passive block on d2, tying their pieces down to a nasty central pin.
  11. 6.Bd2 – White is forced to interpose the bishop on d2 to parry the check, believing they can weather the storm and develop peacefully.
  12. 6...Qe7 – The lethal pinning hammer: 6...Qe7 freezes White's king along the e-file, rendering the d2 bishop totally immobilized and helpless.
  13. 7.Bxb4 – White desperately trades bishops on b4 to break the bind, but this invites an even more destructive double attack from your queen.
  14. 7...Qxb4+ – Double-check fork recapture! 7...Qxb4+ checks White's king and hits the undefended b2 pawn simultaneously, winning decisive material.
