1. Fried Liver Attack (6.Nxf7! Shock Sacrifice)

After 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5, Black mistakenly recaptures with 5...Nxd5? instead of the mainline 5...Na5. White detonates the position with 6.Nxf7!, pulling the Black monarch into an inescapable vortex.

Move by move

  1. 1.e4 – The quintessential opening move: 1.e4! You seize the center, clear diagonals for bishop and queen, and establish an open, dynamic struggle.
  2. 1...e5 – The principled classical reply: 1...e5. Black stakes an equal claim in the center, establishing a solid presence and challenging White.
  3. 2.Nf3 – Developing the knight to f3 embodies the cardinal principle of attacking while developing: directly threatens the e5-pawn and readies kingside castling in record time.
  4. 2...Nc6 – The most flexible defense: Black develops the knight toward the center, defends the e5-pawn naturally, and keeps firm watch over the vital d4 central break square.
  5. 3.Bc4 – The Italian Game move: the bishop aims at f7, defended only by the king, and controls d5, making ...d5 harder to achieve.
  6. 3...Nf6 – The Two Knights Defence: instead of 3...Bc5 Black develops the knight and immediately attacks e4. It is an active choice, but it allows White the 4.Ng5 attack against f7.
  7. 4.Ng5 – White launches the aggressive Fried Liver Attack with 4.Ng5: targeting the vulnerable f7-square in tandem with the c4-bishop.
  8. 4...d5 – The only reasonable defence of f7: the pawn blocks the c4-bishop's diagonal. Black is ready to sacrifice a pawn in order to gain development tempi.
  9. 5.exd5 – White captures in the center with 5.exd5: opening the e-file for future rook pressure while testing Black's tactical awareness.
  10. 5...Nxd5 – Black's thematic error: 5...Nxd5?! A natural recapture that walks directly into White's devastating knight sacrifice on f7.
  11. 6.Nxf7 – The explosive sacrifice 6.Nxf7! White detonates Black's kingside shelter, dragging the enemy monarch into the open board.
  12. 6...Kxf7 – Black is forced to accept with 6...Kxf7: forfeiting castling rights and leaving the king stranded under heavy crossfire.
  13. 7.Qf3+ – Lethal double check and fork with 7.Qf3+! The Queen attacks both the exposed Black king on f7 and the undefended knight on d5.
  14. 7...Ke6 – Black's King must embark on a suicidal march with 7...Ke6 to protect the pinned d5 knight, stepping into an inescapable mating net.
  15. 8.Nc3 – White develops 8.Nc3: tripling the attack against the immobilized d5 knight and tightening the noose around Black's king.
