  2. 1...Nf6 – Black responds with 1...Nf6: developing the knight centrally, preventing an immediate e4, and keeping flexible options for future defense.
  3. 2.Bg5 – The Trompowsky Attack with 2.Bg5! You actively deploy the bishop outside the pawn chain, immediately pinning the f6-knight without touching c4.
  4. 2...d6 – Black chooses the passive 2...d6: guarding e5 in advance but surrendering any active contest for central territory to White right from the start.

  6. 3...Nbd7 – Black develops the knight to d7 to support a future central reaction, but congests the natural development of their remaining minor pieces.

  10. 5...Be7 – Black develops cautiously with 5...Be7: preparing short castling, but finding themselves saddled with a passive, cramped position everywhere.
  11. 6.Ngf3 – You develop the knight with 6.Ngf3: controlling d4 and e5, preparing short castling, and cementing an overwhelming, permanent positional edge.
