Move by move

  1. 1.d4 – The classical opening strike 1.d4! You seize the center, open diagonal lines for the c1-bishop, and initiate a solid, highly dynamic contest.
  2. 1...Nf6 – Black responds with 1...Nf6: developing the knight centrally, preventing an immediate e4, and keeping flexible options for future defense.
  3. 2.Bg5 – The Trompowsky Attack with 2.Bg5! You actively deploy the bishop outside the pawn chain, immediately pinning the f6-knight without touching c4.
  4. 2...c5 – Black initiates an asymmetrical duel with 2...c5: immediately challenging the d4-pawn in an effort to divert White's forces from the center.
  5. 3.d5 – You advance resolutely with 3.d5! Conquering valuable territory in the heart of the board and denying Black's b8-knight its natural c6-square.
  6. 3...Qb6 – Black reacts with 3...Qb6: aiming straight at the undefended b2-pawn in an attempt to distract White from harmonious piece development.
  7. 4.Nc3 – The brilliant Trompowsky Gambit: 4.Nc3! You boldly offer the b2-pawn to secure a colossal advantage in time, rapid mobilization, and open files.
  8. 4...Qxb2 – Black takes the poisoned bait with 4...Qxb2: snatching a pawn but straying into hostile territory and exposing their queen to fatal perils.
  9. 5.Bd2 – You parry smoothly with 5.Bd2! Defending the c3-knight, threatening Black's queen with Rb1, and preparing devastating piece jumps with Nb5.
  10. 5...Qa3 – Black commits a fatal error by retreating the queen to 5...Qa3? Instead of heading home, the queen strands herself on the edge with no escape.
  11. 6.Rb1 – You activate the rook with 6.Rb1! Cutting off the queen's retreat along the b-file and setting up the deadly Rb3 trapping net to win decisive material.
  12. 6...a6 – Black plays a desperate 6...a6 to cover the b5-square, but fails to realize that the queen is already hopelessly caught in White's iron grip.
  13. 7.Rb3 – The coup de grâce: 7.Rb3! Directly attacking the trapped black queen with nowhere left to run: Black loses their queen or gets checkmated on the spot.
